đź’›Sunday Reset with Addie đź’› Movement Is a Gift, Not a Punishment
💛Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to think of exercise as something we have to do to burn calories, lose weight, change our bodies, or make up for what we ate.
đź’›But what if we changed the way we look at movement, especially in midlife?
💛I’m in my forties. I’m not trying to be younger again, and I’m not trying to train like a fitness model. I want to feel strong, have energy, keep up with my family, protect my independence, and enjoy my life for as long as possible.
💛I want to move because I can, not because I’m punishing myself for how I look.
💛And here’s what I’ve learned: The best workout isn’t necessarily the hardest workout. It’s the movement you enjoy enough to keep coming back to.
💛Maybe that’s walking outside, dancing in your kitchen, doing Pilates, practicing yoga, lifting weights, or trying a kickboxing class. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s workout.
💛You don’t have to dread exercise to get stronger. You don’t have to exhaust yourself to make progress. And you don’t have to chase your younger self to build a healthier future.
💛As we get older, movement becomes less about changing who we are and more about taking care of the person we’re becoming.
💛So this week, I want you to stop asking, “How many calories did I burn?” and start asking:
💛“How did moving my body make me feel?”
Did it lift your mood? Help you feel stronger? Give you a little more energy? Help you feel connected to yourself again?
That matters, too.
💛This Sunday, let’s reset our mindset. Let’s choose movement that brings us joy, honors our bodies, and helps us age well—not movement that feels like another punishment on our to-do list.
đź’›Because we deserve to feel stronger, happier, and healthier at every stage of life.
đź’›Your reminder this week:Â Find movement you love enough to keep doing for the rest of your life.
You don’t have to love every workout. You just deserve to find ways to move that make you feel good about caring for yourself.
Let’s age well together. 💛
🥜 QUICK RECIPE: PROTEIN-FIRST BREAKFAST
Peanut Butter Banana Protein Oatmeal
Ingredients:
* ½ cup rolled oats
* Âľ cup milk
* 1 tablespoon peanut butter
* ½ banana, sliced
* 1 tablespoon chia seeds
* Cinnamon to taste
Directions:
1. Cook the oats with soy milk.
2. Stir in the peanut butter and chia seeds.
3. Top with sliced banana and cinnamon.
đź’›The Sunday Reset nutrition tip: Protein first, then fiber-rich carbohydrates.
đź’›Why? Eating protein and fiber alongside carbohydrates can help slow digestion and moderate the rise in blood sugar after a meal. Protein also supports muscle maintenance, which becomes especially important as we age.
💛Try eating the protein-rich part of your meals first, followed by vegetables or other fiber-rich foods and then your starches. You don’t have to follow a strict order every time, and combining foods works, too!
đź’› AFFIRMATIONS FOR THE WEEK
Read these aloud or repeat them during your workout.
1. I move my body with gratitude, not punishment.
2. I am building strength for the life I want to live.
3. I honor my body and respect what it needs.
4. I choose progress over perfection.
5. I deserve to feel strong, capable, and confident at every age.
6. I release comparison and embrace my own journey.
7. I trust God’s timing and do my best where I am.
đź’›This week, choose one form of movement that genuinely makes you feel good. Take a walk, try Pilates, lift some light weights, dance, or join me for a fun kickboxing-inspired workout.
You don’t have to do it all. Just start somewhere and keep showing up for yourself.
đź’› YOUR REMINDER
We’re not working out to get our younger bodies back. We’re moving to take care of the bodies that are carrying us into our future.
Together we can and will age well,
Xoxo, Addie, RN
