🌱Sunday reset: Old-School Workouts, Simple Food & Finding Calm in the Chaos

Sunday Reset with Addie 🤍

❤️There is something about an old-school workout that just makes me smile.😊 Do you remember those days? PiYo, step, TurboKick, dance, strength classes… and honestly, we really DID have loads of time for workouts back then! Sometimes we would take two classes in a row and think nothing of it. 😂 😎We would walk into the gym, see our friends, work out, laugh, sweat, and leave feeling like we had accomplished something big.

🧐Now life looks a little different. We have kids, families, jobs, appointments, responsibilities, and a million things pulling us in different directions. So maybe we don’t have that same chunk of time anymore — and that’s okay.

❤️That’s one of the reasons I love bringing these workouts right to you. You don’t have to rearrange your entire day or drive to the gym. You can press play on one of my workouts whenever it works for YOU. Maybe you have 20 minutes in the morning. Maybe you squeeze it in after the kids leave. Maybe you do it in the evening. Maybe you stop halfway through and come back later. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to fit your life.

🌻And while you’re doing it, maybe you’ll feel a little nostalgic, too. Maybe a PiYo workout takes you right back to those days. Maybe a kickboxing combo reminds you of an old class you loved. 🙋‍♀️Maybe you remember the friends you used to work out with and the feeling of walking out of the gym tired but happy.

❤️❤️❤️❤️And I truly believe that one day, we will meet again in person.❤️❤️❤️ Until then, let’s keep showing up here together. I’ll keep creating workouts, sharing ideas, encouraging you, and hopefully giving you a little motivation when you need it. You can do these workouts whenever it’s convenient for you, right from home. We’re just bringing a little piece of those old-school workout days into this season of our lives.

🥗 This Week’s Simple Recipe

This week I’m keeping food simple, too. I don’t think we need to spend hours in the kitchen or follow some complicated plan to eat well. Sometimes the best thing we can do is have a few simple meals ready to go so we’re not constantly wondering, “What am I going to eat?”

Try this Simple Sheet-Pan Chicken & Veggie Bowl:

You’ll need: chicken breast or chicken thighs, baby potatoes, broccoli or green beans, olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and your favorite herbs. Add a little lemon juice when it’s finished.

Cut everything into bite-sized pieces, toss with a little olive oil and your seasonings, and roast at 425°F for about 25–30 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the potatoes are tender. You can serve it as-is or put it over rice or quinoa. Make enough for leftovers so tomorrow’s lunch is already done.

And if you don’t eat chicken, swap it for salmon, tofu, shrimp, or even chickpeas. Simple doesn’t have to mean boring.

🤍 Bringing Calm Into the Chaos

The other thing I’m thinking about this Sunday is how much energy we give to things that don’t actually deserve it.

Life is going to have chaos. People are going to say things. Plans are going to change. Someone will disappoint us. Something won’t go the way we wanted it to. And sometimes our first instinct is to react immediately.

But maybe this week we can practice something different.

Don’t react. Respond.

Step away when you need to. Take a walk. Take a breath. Pray. Give yourself a little time before answering that text, having that conversation, or making that decision.

You don’t have to respond to everything immediately.

You don’t have to explain yourself to everyone.

And you don’t have to spend your precious energy trying to control things you simply cannot control.

Put your energy where it deserves to go — and protect it from the places where it doesn’t.

🙏Sometimes stepping away isn’t giving up. Sometimes it’s choosing peace.

So this week, let’s move our bodies because it feels good. Let’s eat some simple, nourishing food. Let’s bring a little nostalgia into our workouts and remember the fun we used to have. And let’s give ourselves permission to slow down when life gets loud.

You don’t have to do everything.

You don’t have to do it perfectly.

Just keep showing up for yourself.

And until we can all be in the same room again, I’ll meet you right here.

One workout at a time.

One meal at a time.

One breath at a time.

We will meet again one day. Until then, let’s keep moving together. 🤍

Together we can and will age well!
